　　弗兰克（约翰·特拉沃尔塔 John Travolta 饰）和苏珊（泰瑞·波罗 Teri Polo 饰）虽然离了婚，但是两人对于他们的孩子丹尼（马特·欧莱瑞 Matt O'Leary 饰）的爱却没有终止。尽管婚姻失败了，但在教育上，弗兰克和苏珊都希望能够尽到他们的职责。在父母的纵容和溺爱下，丹尼渐渐成为了一个满口谎言不学无术的坏孩子。

　　Single-mother Sandra (Clare Dunne) escapes her abusive partner with her two young children, only to find herself trapped in temporary accommodation. After months of struggling, she draws inspiration from one of her daughter’s bedtime stories and hits upon the idea of self-building an affordable home. She finds an architect who provides her with plans and is offered land by Peggy (Harriet Walter), a woman she cleans for. Aido (Conleth Hill), a building contractor, appears willing to help too. But as her past rears its head, in the form of Gary (Ian Lloyd Anderson), her possessive ex, and as bureaucrats fight back against her independent spirit, will Sandra be able to rebuild her life from the ground up?

　　Rabiye Kurnaz is someone you might generally call an ordinary woman, except that she is a real dynamo. Shortly after the attacks of September 11, 2001, her son Murat is accused of terrorism and is (one of the first) shipped off to Guantanamo prison camp. 　　Cologne-based comedienne, author, presenter and much more Meltem Kaptan is the perfect fit for Andreas Dresen’s special talent for combining explosive topics (in this case based on actual events) and the everyday concerns of the average citizen. Kaptan’s, or rather Rabiye’s, performance is overwhelming, and not just for the lawyer (played by Alexander Scheer) who quickly becomes a friend. A portrait of a passionate woman who holds the steering wheel of her beloved vehicle as firmly in her hand as she does the reins in this turbo-charged film.

　　Set in Nizhny Tagil, Russia, Summer journeys nostalgically through the warm middle-Ural summer with eight-year-old Vadim and his half-sister Christina.
